Right and wrong about detox

Right and wrong about detox

Drinking only juice or detox teas or living with soups for a week … You can find many articles about all the different ways you can detox your body. Detoxes are most often done after eating too many unhealthy meals. But does it really make sense to do a detox? Or will the lost weight come back later?

First of all, I want to start by saying that everyone should do what they feel good for and feel comfortable with. If detox is good for you, feel free to do so! Often, promises are too good to be true. It is nice to lose 5 kilos a week, but not when you get back twice this amount after a month. There is a lot of right and wrong information circulating about detox and it’s time to scrutinize detoxes …

What is detox

Doing detox cleanse your body of toxins. This can be done in many different ways, but some detoxes are more effective than others. Detox can not only cleanse your body, it can also affect you mentally. You’ll naturally rejuvenate as well as cleanse your body after a detox made of only greens for a week. Detox can be quite difficult if you can’t bear little food (or anything). Headache, nausea, and a bad mood can also have some effect on a detox.

During a detox, your body receives only the nutrients needed to work. This means there will be a drop in your blood sugar level. Your body tries to combat this by releasing glycogen, a sugar stored primarily in your liver and muscles. It also throws out too much water attached to it during detox and this is one of the reasons why you lose a few pounds. Unfortunately, it’s not oil, it’s water!

Right and wrong about detox

There is much misinformation about detoxes, especially on the internet. They are not entirely wrong, because most of what is written on the internet is not entirely baseless. Here are a few true and false stories about detoxes at a glance:

“I got rid of my toxins with a detox” – FALSE

Unfortunately, this is not true. Our body, especially the liver, is very good to get rid of toxins alone. On top of that, you don’t need any detox diet. It doesn’t really help to flush any of the toxins out.

“After eating so long unhealthy, detox is a good idea” – FALSE

It would be great if this was true. This means that the 5 kilos that appear during the New Year holiday can be given in the first week of January with the help of a juice detox. I wish … Unfortunately, the effects of eating unhealthy foods cannot be improved with detox. Excess fat and sugar have already been stored in your body before you consider starting a detox.

“I can improve my strength and health with Detox” – TRUE

This is true if you are aware of the products you take in your body. Most people who do a serious detox later develop their diet because they understand how good a healthy diet is. Only then can you improve your strength and health with a detox.

“Detox is a great way to change your lifestyle.” – TRUE and WRONG

This statement can actually be considered both right and wrong. Because it’s not the same for everyone. It is not always possible for anyone to completely turn their lifestyle in one day. Thanks to a detox, you will be aware of all the harmful things you get into your body every day. For example, if you do detox without any sugar, you will probably feel uncomfortable initially. This allows you to clearly see how dependent you are on candies. It’s not the most pleasant way to learn, but it’s definitely effective. It will naturally be a shame to return to your unhealthy habits after a detox. That’s why people become more conscious about what they eat and drink after they detox. This is not a scientifically proven fact, but for the fanatic ‘detoxers’ it usually works like this.

As you will probably notice, your mental state is the most important part of a detox. Your body can already detoxify itself well, but sometimes it won’t hurt to use a helping hand. This is what facilitates this harsh treatment. You deprive yourself of everything that is unhealthy and you only focus on healthy foods. Then it is very important to be a little strong against yourself. After detox, directing towards unhealthy snacks will naturally bring very bad effects. You will need to stay strong to ensure that your weight does not come back immediately.
